"Diamonds In The Rough`

I photographed this beautiful Short-eared Owl while hiking in a field. I was able to capture the outstretched wing, a behavior that takes only moments. I was captivated by the striking eyes. The short-eared owl is a grassland species and have tufts of feathers resembling mammalian ears which may or may not be visible.
